Verdict

An Saighdiur won this in 2012 and completed a double a year later. He rarely runs over this trip these days but likes soft ground and is 7lb lower than his last success. A three-year-old won this a year ago and Great Wide Open will be supported to follow suit. Charles O'Brien's colt was having just his fourth start when scoring on soft ground over the course and distance in April and, with conditions in his favour, looks certain to go well. PRINCE CONNOISSEUR (NAP) has been very well placed to win four times, including from a 3lb higher mark in a very tough handicap at the Curragh in September. He should be approaching his peak and is handed the vote. In Salutem and Master Speaker are perfectly capable of taking this at their best. The latter was conceding his rival 7lb when beating him narrowly at the Curragh in May and should do so again on these terms.
