In depth

Verdict

Having shown promise on debut at Navan, Viareggio didn’t really get the run of the race when down the field at Leopardstown. However, she has three lengths to find with Karkiyna on that latter run and the Murtagh filly may have a bit more scope. HISTORY (NAP) is by Galileo out of a mare that won Grade 2 and Grade 3 races on Turf in the States. She showed up well on debut at the Curragh and has entries in all of the big races this autumn so it will be disappointing if the Ballydoyle filly can’t open her account today given her yard has won all three previous renewals. Stable companion West Coast, a half-sister to three winners including the smart Just Wonderful, is one to note for future reference but doesn’t hold any fancy entries so far and a bigger danger may be Panama Red, who hasn’t been beaten far in two starts over this trip. Awesome Wonder was an eye-catcher at Naas and also warrants a mention as she’ll know more today.
