Verdict

GOLD REEF showed a decent level of form in bumpers last season and Alan King's mare looks to have been found a decent opportunity to open his account over hurdles at the first time of asking, getting the vote ahead of Bathwick Quest and Ashleys Poppy. Nick Gifford's mare has, like the selection, shown a reasonable level of form in National Hunt flat races and has to be considered on her debut over timber. Lucy Wadham's Cornelia has run respectably in her last two starts but probably needs to improve to trouble the judge, while course bumper winner Student Loan has a bit to find with the selection on bumper form. Carl Llewellyn's Super Martina has shown gradual improvement in bumpers but needs to improve again to get involved here and of more interest may be Brendan Powell's Bathwick Quest, who has had the benefit of a promising run over hurdles. Gold Reef was easily the pick of these in bumpers though and she is taken to open her account over hurdles at the first time of asking.
