In depth

Verdict

Opens All Doors, a half-brother to Very Optimistic, wouldn't need to be anything out of the ordinary to make a winning debut and has to be respected in a race that should not take much winning but a safer bet looks to be No Regrets who gets the vote with White Gate rated the pick of the remainder. The selection showed fair form in bumpers and promise on his hurdling debut before being very disappointing at Uttoxeter last time. That may have been because the ground was a shade more testing than he had previously encountered and Nicky Henderson's gelding looks worth another chance today. Tayman was a middle distance winner on the level and may do better now that encounters more suitable ground and now that Carl Llewellyn is back among the winners. Gary Moore introduces the brother to an Irish point winner Beyond Reproach, while Ushnu has shown limited signs of ability. More solid claims are probably held by Tom George's Irish point-to-point winner White Gate, who has shown promise on a couple of occasions under rules. No Regrets is the clear pick on all known form though and he is preferred.
