Verdict

Not a race to get heavily involved with but we will take a chance on first-time visors working the oracle here on Cockspur. Discomania and Mariday make up the shortlist. Jonjo's horse Cockspur was pulled up last time out over fences on soft ground but todays conditions suit best and connections will be disappointed if he cannot score in this weak contest. He is very unreliable but a first time visor may sharpen him up and with the stable still firing in the winners, he looks worth chancing today. Discomania is yet to win in 35 attempts on the flat and over hurdles but Ken Clutterbuck's gelding has place claims as he has run well in this company before. Just A Gigolo was plating class on the flat and may have stamina limitations on his first run over hurdles, whilst Mr Ex takes a drop in class again and this is more realistic. He can go well. Mr Tim returns from a massive layoff and must be watched in the market, along with David Pipe's Mariday although this maiden looks average at best. This won't take much winning, and Cockspur gets the nod.
