In depth

Verdict

A trappy race which can go to NOMAD with Bari Bay and Dolans Bay respected as dangers. Carroll Grey's gelding is bidding for a three-timer having obliged in two similarly modest events earlier in the summer and with a decent rider booked, few would oppose him today. Bari Bay ran respectably enough in plating grade over two miles at this course and can be anticipated to be in the shake up today. Dolans Bay has his fourth start for Jim Best. He clearly has had problems but is the type with which the handler excels. Marlborough Sound is similarly lightly raced but ran lamentably last time out. Present can be anticipated to have come on for a recent pipeopener on the flat. The Boat Shed is well bred though has shown nothing of note on the racecourse. It is to be hoped that the tongue strap works the oracle. Nomad is the pick of a moderate bunch.
