A straight-forward opportunity for Kerrigand against Ballet K and two well exposed rivals. The Martin Pipe team are not quite firing at the present moment and there will be plenty wishing to oppose Kerrigand. He does look different class since switching to fences and there has been a lot to like about his defeats of Brother Joe (a winner since) and Broctune Mist at Worcester. He is selected with maximum confidence to land the hat-trick tonight. Ballet K looks the only plausible danger if Christopher Down has managed to get him fit. He had fair form for Jim Neville over hurdles but ran a shocker on his seasonal reappearance over fences. The suspicion is that he is arguably a much better performer on a softer surface. Coppeen Cross was recently tailed off behind Samon at Southwell. He was 150/1 on that day and will be large odds again. Red Alert Man is useful enough in his grade but he has to find a couple of stones to be in with any chance of beating the likely favourite.
