In depth
Verdict
Errol can come out on top in an uninspiring affair in which Dilsaa and Pure Brief may also be involved in the finish. Quite a few of these have placed form to their names, but winning efforts by the majority have been thin on the ground so bets should be kept on the small side. With that in mind, only a tentative vote goes the way of Errol who did manage to open his account over hurdles at Doncaster in January, albeit in a modest conditional riders event. He has failed to add to that in five subsequent outings, but with Mick Fitzgerald now in the saddle he may well find the necessary improvement needed. His third at Sedgefield six days ago showed that he is at least fit and although he is probably about 10lb too high in the weights for what he has achieved, the opposition is hardly daunting. Dilsaa won a couple of novice hurdles two years ago but was absent a long time before returning to the track this year. He has topweight but Graham Lee is an encouraging booking and Kevin Ryan's charge is another to note. Pure Brief has won over the course and distance in the past but was a beaten favourite in selling company at Catterick in December. It is hard to make claims for any of the others and so the market may prove the best guide, and so Errol is the percentage call.
