Verdict

A low grade handicap where winning form is conspicuous by its absence and BLAKE DEAN is offered up with the minimum of confidence. Sue Smith's charge won a handicap hurdle here in 2013 off a mark of 74 and though he is now some 23lb higher on this visit, he has demonstrated an ability to cope with conditions. Neworld would have finished closer last time had his rider not dropped the whip but that effort was an improvement upon his previous British form. Mulligan's Man was campaigned at a much higher level in his youth and while the handicapper has offered his assistance, the gelding has been unable to convert the opportunity so far. Tom O'Brien has a decent strike rate when riding for Ian Williams so the lightly raced Agha Des Mottes is noted in the market.
