Verdict

David Pipe's NONO LE SAGE escapes a penalty for his success in a conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle over course and distance on Sunday when hanging on well to beat Rossbrin and he looks to have an obvious chance to follow up that success and gets the vote to do so with the main dangers rated as Confide In Me and General Smith. The last mentioned has been running consistently well in recent starts but is strictly held by the selection on running here last time but may have to settle for minor honours at best. Chris Bealby's Louis Ludwig ran better in a selling hurdle at Bangor last time but this is tougher, while Jonjo O'Neill's Song In My Heart has yet to reproduce any of her flat form over hurdles and seems best watched. Simon Burrough's Windpfeil lost no caste in defeat behind Skye But N Ben at Newton Abbot earlier this month and has every chance off the same mark today. John Akehurst's Confide In Me is less exposed than most of his rivals after just three starts over timber and has to be considered but it is hard to get away from Nono Le Sage, who can win again.
