In depth

Verdict

Mint Gold still has scope but it’s a worry that he has had wind surgery twice in the last 12 months. Thibault finished ahead of Youracert when second on his chasing bow but fell on a return visit to that track in a race in which Goldencard finished a well-beaten fourth. Barman won five times over hurdles when trained by Nicky Henderson, including once around here, but the mare Absolute Jaffa failed to make much of an impact over the smaller obstacles. CATCH THE CUBAN gets a handy weight-for-age allowance and ran well for a long way over hurdles here last month. A subsequent run on the all-weather will have blown away any remaining cobwebs and he should go close if taking to fences.
