Verdict

Unlike most of the other races on the card, this should not take too much winning, and the one to be on is Young Lorcan, with Malko de Beaumont, Lost In Normandy and Native Eire taken to give him most to do. Young Lorcan has lots going for him here as he revels in the ground and has already won three times round the Midlands circuit, so looks all set to add to his tally judged on recent evidence. The 10-year-old battled his heart out to get the better of Bay Island in a sustained slog up the Leicester hill eight days ago, and if in the same mood will be hard to pass on the run-in. Hopefully it will not develop into a battle this time, with the rest, Malko de Beaumont apart, not appearing capable of offering too much resistance. The latter gave the 45 members of his syndicate of owners something to cheer about when gaining his first victory on these shores in February, and the ex-French individual should continue to improve over fences. Lost In Normandy was pulled up at Bangor last time and is best watched, while Native Eire has an absence to overcome. The rest are best avoided, and Young Lorcan has obvious claims.
