      Verdict

Sashenka can land the finale at the expense of Havenstone and Big John Macarty. This is a poor end to proceedings, and not an event to get too worried about, with Sashenka earning the vote. John Spearing's charge has failed to progress since landing a bumper at Market Rasen last year, but she seems to be getting the hang of things over timber judged on her last three efforts. With her pilot taking 5lb off her back, she should go close and is the pick. Havenstone seems to be a similar sort on past form, but did not impress when third at Worcester last time and is worth taking on. Big John Macarty has been absent since finishing third to the odds-on Backboard at Worcester in April, but that was on fast ground, and he is best watched on this occasion. Not A Doctor could improve in time, and is the only other that makes any sort of appeal, but in a race in which bets are best kept to the bare minimum, it is Sashenka that is saddled with the vote.
