Verdict

Spirit Is Needed had already taken the measure of hot favourite Priors Gold when that one came to grief at Hereford. Michael Byrne's claim negates one of his penalties but FOREVER WAINING is still preferred. He was making his hurdles bow when behind Tim Vaughan's charge at Bangor last month but stepped up on that effort when second to Grandad's Horse over C&D 11 days ago and further progress can see him get his head in front at the third time of asking. Teshali won at Taunton in March but is more exposed than many of these and Quiet Whisper also has plenty to prove at the weights. Flat winner Denton has AP McCoy booked and is of interest, however, while Monbeg Dude could also do well over hurdles over the coming months.
