Verdict
Possibly as good a race of its kind that we have seen all season, with My Will selected ahead of Contraband and Ashley Brook. The selection started the season well then slightly went off the boil. However, he looked to be back to his best last time when scoring in a Grade 2 event at Cheltenham, and we are taking the view that he can continue to build on that. The eight pounds he receives from Contraband could also be useful as Martin Pipe's gelding has proven himself very smart this season, including when scoring at Sandown at Grade 2 level last time. Of the others, Ashley Brook has revealed himself as a very interesting novice, although a slight setback means he has not raced since November, while Kadount, who has always been held in high regard by his trainer, finally came good over fences last time although, admittedly, he had run encouragingly behind some decent chasers prior to that. Once again, then, it all adds up to a smashing race, and one that can go to My Will.
