Verdict

Deputy Dan probably came up against a decent novice in Oscar Fortune at Carlisle and should be going one better soon. Champagne West was no match for Beat That at Ascot last month but the winner was second in a Grade 2 at Sandown on Friday, ahead of Oscar Fortune, so that ties Philip Hobbs' charge closely with Deputy Dan. Bally Braes has been running well in bumpers, as has Ulzana's Raid, while Ampleforth won over 2m on the Flat at Yarmouth in the summer and should stay this trip. TULLYESKER HILL won a point-to-point in May and bolted up in a Plumpton bumper on his debut under Rules. He can make a winning start over timber.
