In depth
Verdict
Rod Millman has his string in good order at the moment and can pick up again with Nina Fontenail, who edges preference over Roman The Park and Elsinora on the grounds of value. The last named joined current yard for ¿3,000 after winning a claimer at Brighton in good style last Saturday and obviously has to be considered as a live threat whilst she is in such good heart. However, she has an annoying habit of finding one too good in a finish and does not do anything quickly. The fact that she was entitled to win as she did on the official ratings last week does temper the confidence here, and she may be worth taking on in this slightly stronger, if unreliable company. Roman The Park has never shown anything to suggest that he is capable of progressing through the ranks. But he has shown enough to be a serious contender at this level and also has to be feared. However, he was put well and truly in his place by a convincing winner on his reappearance and has to conclusively prove that he still has what it takes to force his head in front. Therefore, we take him on with Nina Fontenail, who is a lightly raced type that looks to be getting the hang of things just at the right time for events of this nature. She makes cracking each-way appeal at the likely prices in a nightmare of a race to fathom.
