In depth

Verdict

French import Solid Land has to be considered from a strong stable. By Sadler's Wells out of an Irish River mare, Araglin - an all-weather winner on the Flat over 9 furlongs - could be open to some improvement. Calamint is a half-brother to a hurdles winner and, with stamina on his dam's side, could go well. Ndola is from Barney Curley's yard but has shown little to date. A winner over a mile at Beverley on the Flat (on good going) when with David Nicholls, Prince Dimitri represents Martin Pipe. Pure Mischief is entitled to run well based on his Fakenham third. Robert Alner has good hopes for Danse Slave but he will not be overfacing her too early in her career. Ela Jay has Flat placed efforts to her name and could run well for Hughie Morrison in what does not, overall, look a strong race. Navale ran third at Kempton on good to firm in August. Rosewood represents Christian von der Recke's German stable which is doing well this season in Britain, but she is hard to assess. Bay Of Dreams, Cody and Donegal Shore all showed some ability on the Flat but, in what does not look a very strong race, Paul Nicholls' Solid Land gets the nod.
