Verdict
Bought to go hurdling, St Helensfield proved a major flop. Not seen on the flat since finishing down the field in last years Tote Cesarewitch, he has been given a chance by the Handicapper and is now 5lb lower than a mark he has won off. If he retains his enthusiasm he looks the one to beat. Jack Dawson is a hardy sort and is sure to run his race, while Look First comes here at the top of his form, but he will have to produce a lifetime best to win off this mark. The three-year-old Callisto is an interesting runner. She was unsuited by the steady pace last time and if they go a decent clip here, she will be a danger to all.
