In depth

Verdict

The Venetia Williams-trained Schuh Shine has leading claims in this company and is selected ahead of La Marette, Montecorvino and Shirazi. Top weight Men Of Destiny is also worthy of consideration at this level and, from a mark of just 104, he has very little to find to get competitive today. Shirazi comes here on the back of one of his more convincing efforts at Exeter and has each-way claims if he decides to run to his best. He is not really noted for his consistency though and he is for the brave only. Montecorvino has failed to complete his last three starts and obviously has something to prove. Especially as this trip seems to stretch him to the limit. La Marette has held her own against this calibre of opponent and rates as the main danger to the selection. She stays well and will be suited by the going. However, she also looks weighted to the hilt and needs everything to go her way. Therefore, we prefer to go with Schuh Shine, who is fully 28lb lower in the ratings compared with his current mark over fences. The Williams team have done well in recent weeks and this looks to be another good piece of placement from the Herefordshire-based trainer.
