Verdict
WESTEND STORY was fifth in last year’s champion Bumper and that race has, as always, produced a host of useful novice hurdlers. He weakened in disappointing fashion when favourite on his hurdling debut at Warwick last month but it may be worth forgiving him that run as it was his first in nine months. Lakeside Castle has joined Dan Skelton since finishing second in a Roscommon bumper in May and should find a race before long but none of the others, including points winner Tommy O’dwyer, have suggested they will be troubling the judge anytime soon.
