In depth

Verdict

Mexican Pete, Crathorne and Snows Ride are three against the field in this ultra competitive handicap hurdle and the vote is given to Mexican Pete. The selection has won his last two races in good style notably when beating Pirandello last time out. Granted he has a seven pound penalty for that win but he still remains well weighted on his best form and under conditions that suit he is taken to win again. Crathorne rates the main danger as she is an in-form mare who won well last time out when beating Skiddaw Jones, this is tougher but she is progressive and should be noted in the market. Snows Ride is another that is at the top of his game at present and also won well last time out when beating George Stubbs, but that form has since been let down and at likely odds he looks worth opposing.Overstrand is another that could go well but he ran as if in the handicappers grip when well beaten last time and is opposable on that basis. St Pirran would eat these for breakfast on his best form but he may just need the run after a 3.47 day absence and for the winner we return to the in-form Mexican Pete.
