Verdict
A fiendishly difficult handicap that will have warmed the cockles of the racecourse executive. Double Blade had no more than an exercise canter last time out in claiming company but his current handicap mark of 122 looks harsh for what he has achieved. He is a course and distance winner though and should give another good account of himself again. Mrs Jodi is a popular sort and returns from a modest effort over bigger fences. She will win her share on a softer surface. Similarly, Bound, who makes the transition from novices to handicaps, produced his best form on a significantly softer surface. Ontos bids for a four-timer today. The Irish import has done nothing wrong on his three victories so far but the handicapper has taken note. The time of his last Perth victory was some twelve seconds slower than standard and he would need to find more in this grade. Miracle Kid is best watched after a long absence despite a positive jockey booking. Jocko Glasses has become frustrating to follow whilst Welsh Main has already thrown away a couple of chances to score in lower grade this season. The TEAMtalk selection is Virgin Soldier. He is given the chance to redeem himself after a bitterly disappointing display at Huntingdon. That said, he was heading for a three-timer and he is probably still capable of winning off his current mark.
