In depth
Verdict
Ela Re is likely to be a warm order here after a decent effort in defeat at Market Rasen last time. Carl Llewellyn has made the trip up north to take the mount which is probably a tip in itself and while the gelding does not have the look of a good thing, now that he has hit some form on this quicker ground he is taken to go one better here. Montessori Mio was beaten 13 lengths in a decent juvenile here before Christmas and on that showing we might have expected more than just the one placed effort in three outings since. Clearly the gelding does have some ability, though until he shows it more fully on the racecourse he cannot be recommended as a serious betting proposition. Castanet did not perform too badly on her debut at Bangor last time, though she was soundly thrashed by Penny Pictures there. Improvement is expected, though she might just find a couple too good here. Of the remainder Rotuma was sharpened up nicely by the visor at Sedgefield the other day and with that fitted again can be thereabouts on ground to his liking, while Nailbiter drops back in trip after being run out of it over two and a half miles here last time and could also challenge for the minor honours.
