In depth

Verdict

Oscar O'scar led for a long way when tackling 2m6f at Kelso but weakened quickly when headed and was beaten a long way. Blake Dean hasn't won for two years yet is still on a higher mark while the four-year-old Poet Mark has a tough task in these conditions. TRANSIENT BAY was always in the firing line when scoring over this trip at Uttoxeter and was made a short-priced favourite to follow up there a few days later. The slow pace caught him out that day and with a stiffer test likely here he can gain compensation. Cadgers Hole has been placed once in 13 starts and hasn't been seen since May while triple Flat winner Naburn hasn't reached a place over timber in seven starts.
