In depth

Verdict

Regulator steps up a furlong on his reappearance but that shouldn’t be a problem. Richard Fahey’s gelding ended last season in Listed company and wasn’t entirely disgraced so should go well in a race like this. ZIARAH is still a maiden but ran some cracking races in defeat in her first season, especially when stepped up to 7f in the autumn. She’s rated 80 so sets a very decent standard for a Class 5 event. Air Raid made a winning debut on soft going at Thirsk last year and probably has more scope than Assimile. Newcomer Staplegrove is one of only two John Gosden runners here today and having cost 260,000gns, and being a half-brother to three winners, he’ll be expected to pay his way.
