        Verdict

        King Revo won four times in novice-company last term and looks to start this season on a fair mark so gets the vote ahead of Torrid Kentavr and Middlethorpe. The last mentioned comes here fit from a light campaign on the flat and reasonably well treated for his return to hurdles. He has to be respected, particularly given his trainer's record at Wetherby. Kevin Ryan's Petrula also comes here from the flat so should not fail through lack of peak fitness, although the handicapper has done him few favours. Top weight Torrid Kentavr ran well of the same mark behind Alrida at Market Rasen when last seen in July and holds solid claims on that form. The nine-year-old Dower House has not run over timber for almost four years so it will be interesting to see how Dower House performs. Of more interest may be Keith Reveley's Maceo, who should strip fitter for his recent return over course and distance. The vote though goes to King Revo. Pat Haslam is quite capable of producing one to win first time out and, with ground conditions to suit he looks to be the one they have to beat.
