Winning bumper Hardline would probably have scored over hurdles but for falling twice when there with every chance and led for a long way over 2m3f on his hurdling debut at Downpatrick. Schmidt made a reasonable debut at KIlbeggan in May and it shouldn't be long before he loses his maiden tag while Felix Mendelssohn has had a couple of runs on the Flat since unseating his rider on the latter track last month where he looked held. Mount Hanover is likely to do better when tackling further but this can go to ITSONLYROCKNROLL, who has been brought along slowly in bumpers and had a nice confidence-booster at Clonmel in preparation for his hurdles debut.
