Verdict

Shantou Flyer has done brilliantly well in a long career winning 10 times under Rules and remaining unbeaten in three point-to-points, the penultimate when dead-heating. With Olive Nicholls' claim taken into consideration, he'll be receiving weight from FAMOUS CLERMONT but the latter, who is five years younger, has been in superb form between the flags under the experienced Will Biddick, winning seven of his last nine races, and looks the one to beat. Another Venture has had plenty of success though was well beaten at Taunton last month but Step Back is by no means out of this having performed well in strong handicaps here and at Sandown in December.
