In depth

Verdict

Not much public form to work on and, as ever in this type of event, the market will provide further clues. Of those to have raced, Sargasso Sea confirmed the merit of his initial start when a strong finishing fourth over course and distance last month. Jim Old's charge should be thereabouts once again while Castlemore is another to consider after making a promising debut when fourth at Ludlow in November. The Phillip Hobbs-trained gelding has not raced since but had been the subject of significant support in the ring and is likely to improve. Martin Pipe's High Rocker ran moderately on his debut but should prove capable of better while newcomers such as Aruba Dam, Off Broadway and Easter Present represent powerful yards and should be closely monitored in the exchanges.
