Verdict
Tragic Ohio, Milord Lescribaa and Gentle Beau form our shortlist here, with the vote going to Milord Lescribaa. The selection is a Martin Pipe-trained four-year-old French-bred who has yet to see the track. However, he is sure to know his job and, unless the market suggest markedly otherwise, can make a winning debt in what is not a strong race overall. Tragic has shown a lot of promise in two bumper runs, winning the first and then beating Gentle Beau in the second. Gentle Beau was still well to the fore when falling on his hurdling debut but ran with promise in a confidence-booster at Plumpton over a longer trip last time. The drop back in trip today might help and he has to be considered. Of the others, Avas Delight showed promise in Irish bumpers but has to build on that in two British starts to date. Billyvoddan stepped up on his debut effort to run third in a Uttoxeter bumper last time, so is going the right way. This probably represents Grouse Moor's easiest task to date although he has to improve on what he has so far shown. Katies Hero seems to be improving but Martin Pipe's Lago Nam has shown little in two runs. Plantaganet showed promise in a very good bumper on his debut and might hold an outside chance on his hurdling debut. Tin Symphony is another to have shown a modicum of promise but, overall, the selection, from the nominated list, is Milord Lescribaa.
