In depth
Verdict
In the bumper that closes the card, Dans Pride gets the selection ahead of O'Toole, Emanate, Diamond Merchant and Dominican Monk. The selection showed plenty of promise when fourth on his Ascot debut and, from a stable that does well in these types of races, has to be given serious consideration. Dominican Monk improved on his debut run to win at Ludlow. However, that was not a strong event and he might be vulnerable under his penalty. O'Toole is likeably bred and hails from a very good yard, so watch the betting for clues, while Paul Nicholls has opted to run Emanate from his entry, and this gelded son of Nicholas Bill showed promise on his debut and looks set to go well. Diamond Merchant can be forgiven his run on heavy going last time and, after showing showing promise on his debut, should be seen in a better light on today's going. China Chase is out of a winning chaser while Bold Affair also has something to like on breeding. Barabbas was second here on his debut, but it was, overall, a modest five-runner affair. He used to be with Sir Michael Stoute but still seems very backward. This brings us back to Dans Pride, who gets the call.
