In depth

Verdict

Fleetwood Forest appears to be on the upgrade and can account for the likes of Magalina, Darjeeling, Christopher and Morson Boy. There are plenty in with chances here, but Fleetwood Forest gets a narrow vote on the strength of his success at Fontwell where he was a bit keen but stuck to his task well when asked to go about his business. The step up in trip seemed to be the key at the Sussex track and another two furlongs will not come amiss. Apparently connections will listen to offers for the five-year-old who has the size and scope to make a nice chaser, so a win here will do his prospects no harm. Paul Keane is a trainer going places and he has already had a good season, so Magalina is worth a mention after her promising second at Folkestone where she did all bar hold the late run of Kiwi Babe. Darjeeling stayed on at Taunton and should appreciate the trip, while Christopher is put back over hurdles after making mistakes against Ulusaba in a Newbury chase. Morson Boy was left trailing in the wake of Royal &SunAlliance Hurdle favourite Gold Medallist at Exeter, but he was too far behind to be using the latter as a form line to his chances. Nevertheless he comes from a top yard and merits some respect, but in an open looking affair it is Fleetwood Forest who is the pick.
