In depth

Verdict

This may not take a great deal of winning but the problem is that there's little in the way of form to grab hold of. KEEPHOLDIN is a purely speculative selection in a race where Spanish Cruise and Calaas may be expected to feature. The case for supporting Keepholdin is not bombproof and he has been sent off at 100-1 or bigger on five of his six starts and never threatened. In fact it rests solely on the booking of Felix De Giles, the current good form of the Mulholland yard and his breeding which suggests that this better ground could see him in a better light. Calaas has at least managed to win a race and on quick ground to boot which is a plus; he's shown nothing over hurdles but is tried in cheekpieces and may benefit from return to racing on faster ground. Spanish Cruise is another to have won a bumper on debut but to have struggled over hurdles; this certainly represents one of the easiest tasks that he's been faced with but it's hard to argue that he's done enough in defeat to mark him down as a major player. Nabouko and Worbarrow Bay are two more that we'll mention but in truth keep an eye on the market, an open mind and don't rule anything out but Keepholdin is our obligatory selection.
