Verdict

CRAZY BOLD has the best prospects in this affair with Regional Counsel and Weststern put up as the alternative plays. Tony Carroll's charge ran an eyecatching race at Stratford last time out and may have finished closer to the winner had he not been struck in the face by a rival's whip. Off the same mark and proven on the surface, he has enough positives to make him our choice. Regional Counsel finished close up at Bangor last time out. The tonguestrap that he wore last time remains in place. Weststern won this race last year. He has to bounce back on this occasion from a fairly disappointing run at Southwell en route to this engagement. Jenny Potts held every chance when capsizing at the last nine days ago and she will be thereabouts if that fall hasn't dented her confidence. Bazart was quirky on the level for Karl Burke and his traits still seem apparent. In fairness to him, he has won at this time of the year previously so he should not be dismissed out of hand. Shipboard Romance would be unfancied on his recent efforts but the handicapper has dropped him plenty and Peter Toole's claim takes a further 5lb out of the equation. Crazy Bold had excuses last time out so we will grant him the chance to atone for his misfortune today.
