Verdict

Sole Agent can foil the hat-trick bid of Picot de Say, with Shiny Thing, Original Fly and Reaching Out expected to make their presence felt. Gary Moore has his team in good heart at present, and that augurs well for the chance of Sole Agent who was not disgraced when fourth to Kasbah Bliss in the Grade 2 Adonis Hurdle at Sandown. He failed to win in seven starts on the Flat, but did not take long in opening his account over timber when successful at Folkestone in January and the fact that Moore ran him in good company last time shows how much he must rate the horse. It was probably a wise move to give Cheltenham a miss and with the slightly better ground in his favour, the son of Trans Island can come out on top. Picot de Say has improved markedly since joining Craig Roberts and his a good turn of foot should ensure that he makes a bold bid off bottom weight. Shiny Thing has claims as well, having finished sixth to Detroit City at Newbury in January, and with the third home Victorias Groom having advertised the form since, Alan King's charge will no doubt attract plenty of support. However, he was 30 lengths behind the subsequent Triumph Hurdle winner at the Berkshire track and has been absent since. Original Fly did not improve for the fitting of blinkers at Chepstow last month, and Reaching Out has not been seen since Boxing Day when down the field behind the selection's stablemate Heathcote. It looks an open contest nevertheless, with a narrow vote going to Sole Agent.
