      Verdict

      A further step up in distance should suit PURDEY’S GIFT, who appears to be making his handicap debut off a fair enough mark. Hummdinger has gone up 3lb for finishing second when favourite at Nottingham but should be in the firing-line again and Summer Moon was placed in three of his four starts in his first season. Hermocrates has won on Tapeta but has yet to show much on this surface while the going might be a concern for Yarmouth third Lucipherus. Pop The Cork will have stamina to prove, despite running for a jumping yard.
