Verdict
Dunedin Rascal gets a tentative vote for a fairly weak affair, with Tayif, Fire Dome and Chispa the most likely alternatives. Eric Wheeler's gelding was a good winner at Lingfield in January, and while his best form is on sand, he has a good draw here and may just represent some value in a race where not too many can be relied upon. Tayif has been knocking at the door lately, and was not disgraced when second in a similar event at Redcar last time, so David Nicholls' horse has to be respected. Fire Dome is the pick of these on official ratings, and would clearly have a chance if fit on his seasonal debut. However, he is 11 years old now and may just need a run or two to get him straight. Chispa ran well when second in handicap company at Hamilton last time and is another to consider, although she may not have the best of the draw here.
