In depth

Verdict

A chance is taken that Tracer will be ready to do himself justice first time, with Abunai, Billy Red, Racing Stripes and Callwood Dancer all respected. Richard Hannon's youngsters have been in good form of late, and it would be no surprise at all if Tracer were to prove good enough to make a winning debut here. The son of first-season sire Kyllachy is related to a smart German stayer in Western Devil and holds entries in two big sales races this autumn. Well galloped at East Everleigh, he can be produced sharp enough to do the business first time. Abunai shaped well when a close sixth on her debut here a fortnight ago and will have learnt from the experience. She can go well along with Billy Red, a promising fourth on softish ground at Sandown. Racing Stripes has been placed twice at Folkestone, on the latest occasion behind the selection's stablemate Karayel, so Hannon has a line to work on. As for Callwood Dancer, she holds no fancy entries yet but hails from a top yard and has to be respected. She does not make as much appeal as the other newcomer Tracer though, and it is the latter that is the pick to give Richard Hannon yet another juvenile winner.
