In depth

Verdict

Rockie Road stayed on best to beat Turnbury on heavy going in a similar low-grade handicap at Brighton and is better off at the weights so should confirm the form. However, the one to take from the race is VAGUELY SPANISH (NAP). Tony Carroll's charge was having only his sixth run and looked to be going well when badly impeded at the furlong pole so is taken to gain compensation here. Hughie Morrison runs both Triple Star, who was staying on over slightly shorter at Wolverhampton last time, and Southern Cross, who just failed to hang on in a Leicester seller. Benoordenhout hasn't had much experience on Turf but both victories to date have come on Polytrack while Heartstrings has dropped 19lb in the weights since July with good reason.
