Verdict

Division one of the maiden and it will not take a juvenile of any great shakes to win it. FLINTLOCK, rated 73 sets a relatively moderate standard but with four runs under his belt he holds a considerable advantage over his rivals. Clearly not the most straightforward as blinkers have been applied right from the outset of his career, he has raced over seven furlongs on his previous three starts and never gave the indication that a drop back to six furlongs was required. Judging on what he has showed so far he is no world beater but if bouncing out in front, he might well outpoint his lesser experienced rivals. Megasecret hails from a yard whos juveniles have to be respected but showed very little on debut while the same can be said of Hawk's Eye. A market check should be kept on Fly By Nelly while Ralph Beckett has introduced a couple of smart juveniles during the summer months and his debutant Ponting, whos foal to yearling price leapt quite considerably is another one of interest. The newcomers need not be above average to land this but Flintlock is the safest option unless the market says otherwise.
