    Verdict

There are some interesting newcomers in this small field, any one of whom could easily be good enough to win, including Beggar's Opera, Beneath and Omaruru, but Clive Brittain has his string in fine form right now and GUMND showed enough on his reappearance at Lingfield last month when chasing home Rebel Soldier to suggest that he will be tough to beat in this company and he gets the vote. Harry Dunlop's Gems was well held on her debut and is hard to recommend, while the other filly in the field, Roxy Spirit, makes limited appeal first time up. John Gosden's Singspiel colt Beggar's Opera makes plenty of appeal on pedigree on his debut, although he is likely to be seen to better effect over further. Pat Eddery saddles a son of Dansili in Beneath, who is also laden with stamina in his pedigree being out of a Rainbow Quest mare, while Mark Johnston's runners always warrant respect and his runner, Omaruru, is no exception being by Cape Cross out of an Indian Ridge mare. Gumnd has shown a decent level of form so far though and Clive Brittain's colt looks the one to be on.
