Verdict
Chivola, Fast Feet and the newcomer Taine appear the principals in this tricky maiden where there are a number of unraced types, and Chivola is preferred. A son of Invincible Spirit and an expensive purchase at 50,000 guineas, Taine makes his debut here. He is well related to a juvenile sprint winner, and hailing from the Willie Haggas yard is respected, although his runners tend to come on for the run. Fast Feet was even more expensive at 70,000 guineas but he too is yet to win, having been second on three occasions. He was just touched off over six furlongs at Lingfield last time and this return to the minimum trip may suit. Another son of Invincible Spirit, Chivola is having his first outing on the all-weather. He is also coming back in trip, having looked to struggle to see out six furlongs in his last two starts. Nonetheless his efforts in defeat have been creditable, and well drawn here, Chivola can belatedly get off the mark.
