        Verdict

        Another uninspiring affair may see Pips Song prevail over the likes of Foolish Thought and Attorney. The selection has the most recent winning form, having gained his fifth course victory when accounting for Polar Haze in what was quite a competitive seller a week ago. That was his first visit to the winner's enclosure since 2002, helped no doubt by the fact that he has plunged down the weights. Polar Haze has let the form down since, but even so, he stands out in this company. The ex-Irish Foolish Thought ran off a mark of 85 on his all-weather debut here a year ago but has come steadily down the weights, and did not run too badly behind Eastborough in claiming company a week ago. However, the drop back in trip has to be a worry and he could not be supported with any confidence. Attorney picked up well when scoring over the course and distance on 14 January but has been found wanting in two subsequent starts. He has obviously gone downhill since the day he went off favourite to beat the top-class Kyllachy at Chepstow. He finished runner-up then but has failed to progress, picking up the odd all-weather race here and there, but with Lisa Jones in the plate, you never know, he might just play a major part. However, we prefer the claims of Pips Song to small stakes.
