In depth

Verdict

DISTANT CHIMES has returned to action in fine form and won both outings over 1m4f last month including at this track. He’s penalised for last week’s success at Lingfield but there’s more to come from Sir Mark Prescott’s charge over this longer trip fitted with headgear for the first time. Bird For Life won a lower grade contest over 2m here last time and is 7lb higher today while Fern Owl is also raised in class after scoring over 1m4f. But The Blues Master went close over the latter trip at Newcastle on his reappearance when ahead of Houlton and Alan King’s grey could be thereabouts at the finish.
