In depth

Verdict

Starboard Light has been in good heart of late and is selected ahead of On Air and Panic Stations. The last named will be a popular choice after showing improved form of late. The daughter of Singspiel handled this course well the last time she raced here and looks set to give a good account of herself. However, she has been found wanting in a finish and is not one to take too short a price about. On Air has a similar profile and needs to find a touch more improvement after a fair effort at Bath last time. Her pedigree does suggest that an artificial surface should not be too much of a problem for her and she is one to keep a close eye on in the betting. However, preference goes to Starboard Light, whose recent profile looks solid in the context of this race. The fact that Seb Sanders comes here for just this one ride is also another solid indication that today can be the day for Starboard Light to shake off her maiden status once and for all.
