Verdict
Hope An Glory ran promisingly on his debut at Lingfield three weeks ago and has to be respected but, makes limited appeal at the forecast odds and a chance is taken with the newcomer Dreadnought, who gets the vote over Nanton. The last mentioned has run to a similar level of form in his last couple of outings and strictly holds Madge on form here two starts ago, although John Gosden's filly is probably less exposed than the Paul Cole-trained colt. Gosden is also responsible for the newcomer Mambo Princess, a daughter of Kingmambo who may need further to show her best. Paul d'Arcy's Starcross Maid is bred for shorter trips and of more interest may be Mark Johnston's Missella, a rare runner these days for her handler on the all-weather. The vote though goes to Dreadnought. Trainer James Fanshawe is quite capable of producing a horse to win first time out and interestingly this son of Slip Anchor is out of a dam that raced in the States and was a half-sister to the sire of Kentucky Derby winner Real Quiet. He may be ideally suited by this surface and looks worth chancing first time out.
