In depth

Verdict

HIGH CONSTABLE failed to live up to market expectations on debut but is given another chance. Greyfriarschorista and Beyond are the likely dangers. Market support for Roger Charlton's well related colt forced his price down to 1-2 but he found little in the closing stages and could only finish third. The winner was trained by Jeremy Noseda so any market support for Beyond would be worth noting. The Newmarket trained colt made 120,000 guineas as a juvenile and is related to plenty of winners so certainly looks the part on paper. Greyfriarschorista wasn't beaten far at Catterick in August and has to be feared for a yard that does well here but Charlie Smirke and Giant Strides are eminently opposable. High Constable is entitled to improve for his debut and is bred to appreciate this sort of trip and can make amends.
