Verdict

Fire Up The Band can land this trappy affair to open the card, with Desperate Dan and Doubtful Sound also worth considering. The selection won well at Southwell last time when he beat Regal Royale at Southwell. He has had his fair share of problems in the past but those could be behind him now and he looks a good bet to score from the plum draw. Desperate Dan will be suited by the drop in trip and he is eased in grade tonight as well. At this level he has to be a leading player, but he may be sharper for this run after being off the racecourse since October. Doubtful Sound is another who is better over this trip rather than the 6f he raced over last time, and all 3 of his career wins have come here. The last time he raced in this grade over this trip here he won, so he should not be discounted lightly. Night Prospector would have rock solid claims on the pick of his form and he did run encouragingly at Lingfield last time when he was third behind Best One. However, he doesn't win as often as he should, and we will stick with Fire Up The Band who gets the narrow vote.
