Verdict

NICKEL SILVER is taken to land this sprint handicap at the main expense of Mrs Penny and Misaro. Bryan Smart's gelding has a course and distance win to his name and comes here 3lbs higher than his latest run, which resulted in success at Nottingham. Although he has never won from this high in the handicap before, he has run very well in defeat from higher marks and he may just have this race in him. Mrs Penny was a 6f scorer here in January, and is now 2lb below her latest run here over that same trip. She is the class animal in the contest, although the drop back to the minimum trip is not certain to suit. It has been a long time since Harry Up was good enough to win anything but a claimer, and he still looks in need of a significant drop in the weights, while Johnstown Lad will also have his work cut out over this distance and from his current pitch. Argentine is not far off a winning mark, though has gone better at other tracks in the past and preference is for Nickel Silver.
